I still maintain that the studios have a plan to run until March and that the strike will end long before then. This “major progress” would be right on schedule. Hang in there, WGA members, you’ll be back at work soon.
Obama says, again, what he’s been saying since at least mid-2007, that he will being back all the troops within 16 months… this is a non-story, especially if our press wasn’t stupid.
This is just the portion of the debate where they had a mock disruption. You can watch more of the debate on YouTube. Several Congressmen were in attendance at the event, which was organized by Campus Progress. (via Boing Boing)
The AMPTP are greedy buggers, aren’t they? No one wants to see reality scripted TV all the time.
Great video explaining the WGA strike in 3.5 minutes. I’m sympathetic to the WGA position on this one. Sometimes with strikes, unions can go too far, but the AMPTP (movie and TV studios) are being ridiculous. Having just been in that industry, especially since I worked with and around the people that put video online, this is both a big revenue area and a big growth area. To have the studios saying one thing to their investors and another to their employees is dishonest, plain and simple.
The video I posted earlier lays that out pretty plainly, but this one goes into some more history and is shorter.
Leave it to the Daily Show writers to point out the absurdity of the studios’ position on deal with the WGA. I especially love the subtle 2.5% joke during the iPod ad.
It really is amazing that the studios are this greedy. I guess we’re stuck with American Gladiator for now…

Seriously, that’s screwed up…
