The funny thing is that they used a bunch of lines straight from Palin’s Couric interview.

As I’m listening to all of the coverage of the Virginia Tech tragedy, I’m hearing debates around how to prevent these tragedies. I don’t have anything to add to any of the discussions here, yet, but my one comment is that this has been the only school shooting like this in a very long time. It would be a further tragedy to take any rash action, whether it be changing gun laws or restricting academic freedoms on campuses, too soon after this tragedy. While this is horrible, it’s rare. We should strive to keep that in mind.

My sympathies and prayers go out to the families and students affected by this tragedy. It’s a sad event all around.

This is an excellent analysis of why Cheney did what he did with regards to getting the news out about the shooting. Be sure to make it down to the “After Matters” section at the bottom of the post which contains a number of external links and articles that are interesting in their own right. Jay Rosen is right on with this analysis.

Drum has this right. All Cheney had to do was get in the camera, apologize for this shooting accident, and this story would’ve been late night fodder. The lack of a response from the White House or any public apology or statement by Cheney just makes this odd. McClellan’s insistence that they were focused on medical care first makes me wonder if this administration can do more than one thing at a time…

Crooks and Liars has a clip of tonight’s Daily Show where Jon Stewart and company make the Cheney’s hunting accident about as funny as it can be. Which is to say, pretty damn funny.
