Found this via Brea Grant’s blog. It’s a good song, and the rest of the album is pretty good. You can get the album, Re-arrange Us, on Amazon.com’s MP3 store. No DRM, just plain, high quality MP3 files.

(PS. Don’t forget to watch Brea Grant on Heroes in a few weeks, and check out other books and music she likes over at Coolspotters. And, no, I’ve got no connection to her, business or otherwise. Just a fan since I saw her on Friday Night Lights.)

I know that the new redesign isn’t very popular with most of you (and I promise I’m still going to work on the colors), but I’ve found a redesign that’s worse. It was even done by a professional (even though it might not have been entirely her fault).

TechCrunch redesigned their site, and boy does it suck horribly. It sucks mostly because of the colors, especially the bright, bright, way too bright green. And the sheer volume of ads on the page. It’s amazingly dense.

The funny thing is that the only reason I knew they redesigned, since I read via RSS, is a related post on WeBreakStuff talking about the old design. The old design rocked, and I was trying to capture that feel on this blog with brighter colors. One day, I’ll work on rounded corners and truly get there.

The first link above goes into a detailed critique of the new design, and i generally agree with what both he and Fred at WeBreakStuff say about web site design. It’s hard for a amateur like me to get it right, but I try to follow those guidelines as best I can.

Of the other designs by the same designer that did the new TechCrunch, I love the effect of the font used in the header of businesstravelers.org. Some of her other work is quite good, too. Hopefully, people aren’t being too hard on her.

Let me know what you think.

Also, can I just mention how much Internet Explorer sucks? It sucks so f’ing bad. It’s out of date and it is horrible at CSS and XHTML. Remember all those comments people made about competition being good and all that? You just need to take a look at the improvements in IE since they crushed Netscape to prove how important competition is. Microsoft only started development on IE 7 once Firefox started getting back some market share. Especially since Firefox is actually better now.

Just a heads up for the regular readers that I’m planning on taking some time this weekend to simplify the design of FatMixx so that it’s cleaner and less “fancy.” It’s a simple task that ought to be fun to do between weeding, carpet cleaning, and other housework that’s been long, long overdue. The last 3 or so weeks at work have been unbelievably busy as a couple of different things on my plate got pushed aside by site issues that then all bunched together for the start of the football season. It’s been keeping me at work until at least 9 most days and working the weekends (except for this last one where we had a wedding). Oh, and then I got sick at the wedding and have been fighting that. Fun fun…

College football season starts two weeks from yesterday and the NFL starts 3 weeks from yesterday.
