I got 100% right. I don’t think I would’ve gotten more than 60% if I had to answer orally as they do on the real test (it’s not multiple choice, usually).

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I am generally very sensitive to the moral perils of comparing anyone to Hitler. This isn’t really comparing the two on a moral plane, however, and instead is showing how hard it is to distinguish Ann Coulter and other mainstream right wing commentators (Hannity, O’Reilly, etc.) from fascist dictators.
So, with that said, take the quiz. This note was at the top of the answer quiz:
For this quiz I’ve replaced some of Hitler’s pro-Aryan and anti-Semitic language with the words, “America”, “Democrat”, “liberal”, and “the liberal media” to make the Coulter quotes a little more difficult to spot.
