I’m a fan of the Political Compass, a different way of looking at the traditional liberal/conservative divide in our political discussions. While not perfect, it more closely captures the ways that so-called liberals or conservatives are actually able to agree on various issues, and how the terms themselves have therefore lost meaning in our political discourse. They’re really code words for certain stances on certain issues. They’re shallow terms, at the very least.
Anyway, more on that at DailyKos and here’s the final graph that the Political Compass folks came up with.

You can always take the Political Compass quiz yourself to see where you sit.
(I’m curious how they have Ron Paul as a shade authoritarian, rather than libertarian. He makes very libertarianish sounds, especially when looking at other charts.
