Seriously, this video is pretty much the ideal response to the whole thing. McCain’s campaign ought to be embarrassed, and the rest of us can laugh at both his campaign and Paris’s response.

(of course it is Paris Hilton, and she gets the details of the energy policy wrong… drilling wouldn’t carry us over because it would take 5-10 years before any of that oil actually entered the market)

POE 1.0 released

Excellent news. This is a project I’ve been watching for a long time, as it was the approach I chose when I was experimenting with a FatMixx IM bot. The release of 1.0 is a big step for the project. Congrats to the POE guys on reaching this milestone.

FastCGI, SCGI, and Apache: Background and Future at VMUNIX Blues

interesting post about FastCGI and SCGI and why they might be better than mod_php/perl/blah. I think it actually makes a stronger case for application servers than it does FastCGI, but this guy makes several good points. (this comes up often when discussing why Ruby may not be ready for high-traffic sites)
