Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

He’s consistent on this and it’s clear that he cares. This is the most consistent, least triangulated candidate in the race.
I think this guy means well, but he’s joining an administration that will force him to choose, sooner rather than later, whether his principles are more important than keeping his job. yes, I know it’s only another 450 days or so of the Bush White House. That’s my point.
