Pic one of my coworkers took - area near his flat - Richmond Park - a few weeks ago. Who would not want to move here!
Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.
In a very interesting post, John Aravosis looks at an ABC News report that ties the bombers in London to the captured Pakistani Al-Qaeda member. You might remember that this was the same terrorist that the Bush administration announced the capture of right before the Democratic Convention. It seemed like poor judgement at the time and we may now be seeing the unfortunate side effects of playing politics with our safety.
Here’s another FatMixx post from back then about this.
It will be curious to see if the press or the Brits will investigate further into this angle to determine if there’s any truth.
Thanks to Atrios for the pointer. His post, by the way, does a good job of summarizing Aravosis’s longer and more detailed explanation.
