The heat maps on this site are really interesting. I played around with the West Hartford/Hartford area. Things aren’t as bad as they are in some other cities. Check out California… holy crap.
One of those mocking, derisive but ultimately silly attacks made by both Giuliani and Palin yesterday had to do with mocking Obama’s time as a community organizers. I’ve read many different posts today defending the work community organizers do but Obama, as you might expect, puts the right perspective on the issue. Steve Benen has more background.
(he slightly misspeaks at the start — it was 20 years ago, not 3).
And as soon as I raise the question, the next blog post at Atrios’s place linked to this article at the Irvine Housing Blog… glad to see that I’m at least asking intelligent questions. If the linked data is correct, at the peak 10% of disposable income was coming from equity extracted from housing (it’s unclear to me whether this is nationwide or CA specific data, but the scale of the numbers implies nationwide).
That’s a big number.
The Wall St. Journal blaming Bill Clinton for a bill sponsored by Republicans and passed with veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate? Shocking! How does a joker like this win the Nobel Prize?
