Too funny. Imagine one of the Democratic candidates being this flip about stupid controversies. They don’t get a pass, but I guess IOKIYAR is in effect.
This is basically an interview with John Gaeta about the approach taken in the upcoming remake of Speed Racer. The movie looks great, and I’m such a fan of the Wachowski brothers that this is on my must see list. The Matrix and V for Vendetta are among my favorite movies in large part because of the visual and stylistic weight of their films.
This is just the portion of the debate where they had a mock disruption. You can watch more of the debate on YouTube. Several Congressmen were in attendance at the event, which was organized by Campus Progress. (via Boing Boing)
I’ve never really consciously noticed that tendency, but it’s definitely there.
This is about the Washington Post’s excellent series about Dick Cheney, which you should read through if you haven’t already.
Just watch his latest appearance on the Daily Show:
Part 2:
So many things that McCain is wrong about and there are a number of things that Stewart didn’t call him on. Really, this is an emblematic performance. I don’t believe a war supporter could do a better job to explain their position, and McCain looked downright foolish at moments.
And Stewart didn’t even ask McCain what happens if the surge doesn’t work… As Atrios is fond of doing, it would be nice if someone asked these “wait X more months” folks what happens when we reach the end of that X month period.
In other words, what would it take for America to redeploy troops in a major way? So far, no Republican ever has ventured that idea.

The first is a followup to Amb. John Bolton’s appearance on the Daily Show the night before.
Reality means nothing to these guys, and John Bolton is example number one. Wikipedia has more on Lincoln’s cabinet as does The University of Illinois at Springfield.
The second clip is John Oliver providing commentary about the White House’s “offer” to have Harriet Miers and Karl Rove testify only if there are no transcripts and they are not under oath.
I thought that was hilarious but then I became a little annoyed. When the Bush administration says F you to Congress in cases like this, they’re saying F You to all of us. Transparency and accountability aren’t simply important between Congress and the Executive but important to help us keep our representatives in government honest.
Fox News is apparently launching a “conservative” satire show a la The Daily Show. I’m sure it’ll be hilarious.
What’s amazing to me is that Fox News and their Republican blinders still can’t see that the Daily Show made (more) fun of “the right” or Republicans because they ran all branches of government. I realize Fox News doesn’t feel any obligation to reality, but it might be hard to write a political satire show focusing on people who run nothing…
Tom Friedman
Ken Mehlman
Tim Russert
The first two are clearly Bush administration supporters saying the same damn crap they say whenever they come on any TV show. “The next six months blah blah blah.” “When they stand up blah blah blah.” “Of course we were never wrong on Iraq blah blah.”
Tim Russert talking about his faux spontaneous book. At least Stewart wasn’t deferential to Tim Russert.
All three weren’t that funny.
I don’t know if you guys saw the Daily Show tonight, but holy crap did they take O’Reilly to task on his misleading use of a clip from the show. You can read about it at Bradblog.com. Of course, I expect that video of this segment will be online tomorrow.
Update: As expected, C&L has the video.
