I’ve been seeing Michelle Bernard of The Independent Women’s Forum on MSNBC pretty regularly lately. Listening to her perspective on things like the Ledbetter Act, I wondered about the group and their basic honesty. Her entire schtick was to voice “concerns” from a woman’s perspective without actually being honest about the basic issues at play.
As with most of these groups, her tactic is to make unfounded warnings of the dire consequences of this act. In the tech world, we call this FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt). It’s the weapon of choice when you’ve got no facts on your side.
Anyway, this article lays out a fairly specific example where the IWF shows more fidelity to right wing talking points over any actual concern for women and women’s rights. In other words, they’re a front group. Check it out.
