The beginning of this clip make the actual clip of Tina Fey as Palin I posted earlier (still at left at the time I posted this) even funnier.

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

Hah that’s pretty awesome. My only problem with Tina Fey’s SNL cameos is that it seems to be delaying the 30 Rock premiere :(. Do you remember interviewing me before you left ESPN about a year ago? I remember it was by far the hardest interview of the day, but I guess that’s what I’d expect from a fellow JHU alum.

Hey Kaitlin, I do remember the day you came in because it’s RARE to see a JHU grad in our field. Seems like all the CS grads go on to do research or work at the big software companies. Hope you’re still enjoying ESPN. It’s a good place to work, and there are days I miss it.
