With only a few weeks until the Blueberry arrives, I’m in the market for a digital video camera. I’m a complete novice to camcorders…file formats, storage technology, etc.
In 5 minutes of research, I think Flash Memory makes the most sense, since I’m not a fan of tapes or realtime data transfer (faster transfer always better). But I’m open to alternatives.
Relevant info:
Mac desktop
Decent w iMovie
Existing HD-based backup through Time Capsule (local) and Jungle Disk (remote) so I’m not planning to keep a library of tapes
What are your thoughts? Technologies, brands, etc?

A buddy of mine got a Panasonic camera that uses SD cards. He was able to get a 16GB SD card for $50. He loves it, but mentioned a few things to look into. First, the more expensive cameras generally are better with more motion. So, if you expect to do a lot of panning, etc., it might be worth spending a few extra bucks. He doesn’t think it’s going to be a big issue for him (he bought his for his soon-too-arrive baby, too).
I’ll see if I can get him to leave a comment with his model number and his own opinion. it looked similar to this: Panasonic HDC-SD9 AVCHD 3CCD Flash Memory High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
