Some wiggle in the details, but the broad claim is true. While 59% of troops deployed abroad have donated to Republicans, between the presidential candidates, Obama has received 56% of the donations. The 6:1 figure comes from the dollar amounts donated, which is a stunning figure by itself.

I hate this “who the troops support” battle because, after all, it’s not really possible to know who the troops support. It also, quite frankly, shouldn’t matter. They’re not more important than any of the rest of us who get to vote. But, in this age of spin-driven political campaigning, stuff like this is actually important, as much as it makes me cringe. So, Go Obama!
