I caught the “Drill Drill Drill” text on Fox or maybe Glenn Beck today while flipping through the channels and thought that it was a weird bit of text. Apparently, though, it’s a “grassroots” movement started by Newt Gingrich and some oil billionaires. Click through to get more info. The article has other links and points out the establishment connections of all of the key participants.

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

It’s actually a grassroots movement - I can assure you I’m not getting a dime from oil companies… and I could use it, gas is expensive! Check out http://dontgomovement.com/

It’s not necessarily that you’re getting a dime, but that it’s being led from the top down. Grassroots implies that regular citizens came up with the idea, and have grown it into a movement. The leaders of this group are movement conservatives like Gingrich and folks that work for conservative or Republican think tanks.
