Elizabeth Edwards writes her thoughts on the announcement of Edwards’s infidelity.

My only comment is that he let down all of us by running for President, especially those of us that want very badly to see the Republicans booted out of the White House. Imagine if he had won the nomination and these events unfolded?

Granted, we would have the convention still to pick a new nominee, but the scandal would’ve hurt the name and the Democratic brand. In a year where everything is stacked in their favor, Edwards would’ve found a way to cause the Democrats to lose.
