His campaign has shown some weakness in this area, and there’s no incentive to fix it because it’s hardly an area the Republicans can exploit. Thus, this will remain as the status quo until, I think, Obama has a change to run a re-election campaign.

This feels like a cold, political calculation, which it most likely is. Not what people expect from Obama, but I think it’s unsurprising. Disappointing, certainly.
