P.S. I’m not ready to pin this on McCain, as I think is going to be natural right now. People want access, and lots of people are willing to bend or break the law to get it. The sketchy thing about these “bundlers” is precisely that the access is a quid pro quo for the amount raised. With so much money coming in, it’s hard to claim that it won’t corrupt some of the bundlers.

This is a problem that affects both major parties, and both parties have been caught with ethically challenged bundlers. So… while I think Steve Schmidt is actually scum for other reasons, not willing to blast the campaign unless it’s clear that they encouraged and/or participated in the illegal bundling. (if there’s illegal donations to begin with)
