This could be the first time a Single of the Week artist from iTunes may actually work out as something I want to listen to.
Neat song and neat video.
This is basically an interview with John Gaeta about the approach taken in the upcoming remake of Speed Racer. The movie looks great, and I’m such a fan of the Wachowski brothers that this is on my must see list. The Matrix and V for Vendetta are among my favorite movies in large part because of the visual and stylistic weight of their films.

I downloaded two different versions of “Love Song” and a live version of “In Your Eyes” (originally by Peter Gabriel). I like Love Song, but wasn’t totally impressed with the rest of the album. This song is good. We’ll see if she ends up being more of a one-album wonder (KT Tunstall) or someone who has legs (Sarah McLachlan).

The recordings don’t do her justice… the video above and my favorite recordings are all of her live stuff. The album is over-processed. Too much reverb and the mix de-emphasizes her voice in favor of too much accompaniment. The iTunes Live Session recordings are stripped down: just her, her keyboard, and a guitar. The video for Fairy Tale has a better recording than the album, which is sad. I can’t find a similar recording for Fairy Tale… wish she had done it as part of the iTunes sessions.
Now I have to listen to the YouTube video instead… sad.

Fairytale is probably one of the best songs that I have ever heard. It’s a crazy twist to the fairytales that we all grew up with and know the stories well. my favorite line in the song is “But the story needs some mending and a better happy ending”

#3, I totally agree. Love the lyrics to that song as much as the music…
