Wonder if this will go anywhere?

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

Yeah, that was mildly out of context.
The two paragraphs are actually flipped and here is the full statement: “Spitzer’s entrapment by federal authorities investigating a prostitution ring raised speculation that Stone, with a 40-year record as a political hit man, somehow was behind it. In truth, Stone had nothing to do with the investigation and said he had not heard about it when he made a prediction based on his general view of Spitzer.”
Novak doesn’t think Stone was behind it.

Oops. I didn’t click through on the Novak column, just meant to link to the blurb on PW. My bad.
As an aside, there are other places speculating on whether the investigation had political overtones (the timing on the wiretaps and such are a bit screwy), so I thought this was part of the theme there.
