I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: He’s not a maverick anymore, if indeed he ever was. This guy has sold out to the Republican machine because he knows that it’s the only way a guy like him is going to get elected. The Republican field is depressing, btw. Mitt “You got some bling bling” Romney and John McCain, both men who once tried to be “different” Republicans who have completely sold out in order to help their electoral chances.

Seriously, this video is pretty much the ideal response to the whole thing. McCain’s campaign ought to be embarrassed, and the rest of us can laugh at both his campaign and Paris’s response.
(of course it is Paris Hilton, and she gets the details of the energy policy wrong… drilling wouldn’t carry us over because it would take 5-10 years before any of that oil actually entered the market)

On the other hand, I find it refreshing and relieving that none of the four remaining candidates are members of the Evangelical political party. While the Republicans may pander to that base to grab the nomination, in a cross-party election, they will abandon the right to move to the center.
