TPM Muckraker points to the linked article. I’m glad Giuliani is tanking… he would’ve been the worst of the Republicans, and I include Tom Tancredo in that list. Or, as Atrios put it:
A Giuliani administration would be like Bush’s without all the good stuff.
Pretty much.

What’s up with Rudi’s hair these days?!… he’s got the Jack Nicholson slick back look. I’m just waiting for him to say, “All work and no play makes Rudi a dull boy.”

I keep running across lots of comments out there that appear to be nothing but regurgitated anti-Giuliani talking points put out by other campaigns. Rather than fall into that trap, let me tell you why I’m supporting Rudy: 1) he stood up to the mafia, and won; 2) he transformed NYC from a failed city back into the “greatest city in the world”; 3) he has a long history of cutting taxes; 4) he has a long history of setting out a course of action, and unlike other politicians, he actually makes it happen; 5) he’s a social moderate, which means he accepts the fact that Roe v. Wade has been law for over 30 years, and he doesn’t give a darn about what adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms (in other words, he’s focused on the economy and national security, where his focus should be); 6) he was a beacon of hope on the darkest day in U.S. history (and yes, I was in the City on that day, so I know what I’m talking about); and 7) he threw Yasser Arafat’s terrorist behind out of Lincoln Center.
In my mind, comparing him to the other candidates, it’s not even close. Why would anyone support any of the other candidates? I honestly don’t see it. Please, somebody out there, let me know! Couple of rules, though - you can’t use the word “change” - and you can’t just post anti-Giuliani statements. I don’t care who you’re supporting - I can generate negative comments with regard to any candidate. But convince me why you support ANYONE else!

“Why would anyone support any of the other candidates? “
They’re not fascists?

Hey Gene, guess what? You’re a bigot. You see, you don’t like the idea of electing a Italian-American, so you attempt to hide behind this idea that Giuliani is a “fascist.” What you don’t realize is that by going with the “fascist” theme, you’re exposing your prejudice. Yes, Italians allied with Germany during WWII; yes, Mussolini was a fascist. And yes, you Gene are a bigot.
Next? (And note - Gene didn’t come up with any good reason to support another candidate - it seems we have two types of people out there - people who support Giuliani, and people who hate Giuliani. Is there anyone out there (ok, other than the Ron Paul supporters, we get the message, ok?) who is passionate about either Curly, Larry, or Moe? Anyone? Bueller?

Joe Crandall,
Unless you know something that’s not on this page, not sure where you’re getting that Gene is against Italian Americans. That’s a silly claim.
The Times article linked above goes through a number of concrete actions that Rudy has taken that make him a poor choice for me.
