Must sell Fanzter for millions so I can have one. BTW, this is an interesting idea from the Mahalo team. Not sure why it makes sense with their stated business plan, but perhaps there’s more than they’ve, um, stated so far.

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

hmmmm $100,000
The chevy volt looks like a more realistic option… built on they’re new flex drive platform - plugin electric hybrid.
http://www.chevrolet.com/electriccar/
40 miles - all battery (no published reports on electricity consumption)
60 mile trip - chevy claims ‘150mpg’ which is of course total horsesh*t.
20 miles on gas, 60/150 = .4g .4 = 20/x, x = 50mpg Which is still perty good for a hybrid.
and of course - it’s a chevy and mileage can very.
