And the Republican abuses go on…

Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

Could we “please” use phrases like Current neo-con republican abuses? Or the “asshole administration” tactics… etc?
Not all Republicans = Bad
Not all Democrats = Bad
But both parties have some pretty crappy people in them…. more on the Republican side because of the neo-con SOB’s and the like… but still, just a simple request…. followed by a “please”

I can’t do that honestly. The issues discussed in the McClatchy article above go down to the state legislatures and local level where people are following the national playbook of alleging voter fraud in order to make it harder for poorer people to get registered and stay registered. No study and no investigation (and the Republicans have pushed for plenty of the latter) have found any pattern of widespread voter fraud.
Second, name me all the Republicans who have put country over party and have broken with the President on Iraq. Or, have stopped with ridiculous rhetoric like passing resolution condemning MoveOn instead of, I don’t know, working on dwell time, or passing habeus restoration. Even the ones who claim they’re fed up continue to support the President’s never-ending Iraq policy.
There’s a pattern of dishonesty, and the fact of the matter is that it’s not just one small faction of the Republican party. It’s the national party, and it’s every significant leader.
You’re right that this doesn’t mean every Republican is “bad” but then again, I’ve never said that.

No, you never have said that and I don’t think you would but it can be implied. Remember, reading something doesn’t give you the inflection that conversation might or might not give off and therefore, blanket statements can be read as an implication.
Trust me, I speak from firsthand knowledge of making blanking statements that were “in jest” but in print didn’t come across that way and therefore made another implication altogether.
Like I said, I was just asking and I was respectfully and thoughtfully declined. And I don’t necessarily disagree with you. I can at least thank you for the rationale, most people wouldn’t even go that far.

US elections are rigged well before the votes are cast in a variety of ways: party insider dealings, loaded media, suppressed voter registration, large monied interests, strange differences in state procedures, plain dirty tricks, rigged voting machines, outright miscounting, or even partisan court decisions.
