I’m watching the first season of Battlestar Galactica after a number of recommendations. The show is pretty good, but I have several complaints. The biggest thing is that I find the whole Dr. Gaius Baltar subplot to be absolutely annoying. The fact that he’s so transparently incompetent is obnoxious. The entire story is not advancing because of that subplot. I’m up to The Hand of God and we’ve got 3 major characters accused of being Cylons (or we already know they’re Cylons). Just resolve the damn plot already… And don’t get me started on his imaginary friend.

Obama says, again, what he’s been saying since at least mid-2007, that he will being back all the troops within 16 months… this is a non-story, especially if our press wasn’t stupid.

Did you watch the miniseries already or did you just start with Season 1?
I thought parts of the 1st season were inspired, however I like the second season better.
The interplay between 6 and Baltar is interesting in that is lays out some of the fundimental differences between Cylon thinking and human thinking.
Several aspects of season 3 have just been trying, but you have about 30 episodes to go before you get there.

Damn, I think I forgot about the mini-series. My brother in law lent me the DVDs for Season One so I cancelled the iTunes purchase I was going to make that had the mini-series. Is it worth going back?

There is quite a bit of backstory and part of 2nd season makes more sense with it. Plus, you know a little more about the characters, such as Sharon, that the other characters don’t know.

Actaully, if IIRC, the Helo-Sharon thing is in the first season, so the setup for that is in the mini. There is also a heck of a lot of action.

Wait, it looks like the miniseries is everything up until the episode where they have to jump every 33 minutes, at least according to iTunes. that means that the DVDs start with the miniseries.
What do you remember? Does the miniseries start with the attack? or before the attack?

The mini starts just before the attack with Baltar and 6 on Caprica. The mini ends with Galactica leaving the arms depot, leaving Dorral there and the appearance of the other Cylons.
Season 1 starts with “33.”
