This is basically an interview with John Gaeta about the approach taken in the upcoming remake of Speed Racer. The movie looks great, and I’m such a fan of the Wachowski brothers that this is on my must see list. The Matrix and V for Vendetta are among my favorite movies in large part because of the visual and stylistic weight of their films.

I’m truly saddened by this, and I wish the best to her family and friends. She wrote one of the best books on George W. Bush I’ve ever read. It made me laugh out loud and made me mad at the same time. Only the rarest of satirists can pull that off. Rest in Peace, Molly Ivins. (via Atrios)

This is basic journalism… if you can’t count on stupid TV news people to even just have a PA freaking fact check, what good are they?

Sen. Joe Biden should just drop out of the Presidential campaign. Seriously, go away. I was insulted by the Indian-American comments but chalked it up to a bad joke gone awry. After all, hah-hah, “Thank you, come again.” This is just ignorant.

You wonder if it’s a lack of perspective or a lack of policy knowledge that makes rich folks less likely to support the minimum wage?

Sen. Jim Webb is a breath of fresh air in the Senate. Happy he’s there. More questions like this, please.

I’m watching the first season of Numb3rs and noticed that Krumholtz’s love interest/assistant doesn’t get credited in the opening credit roll. Any ideas on why? She has as many lines in most episodes as Peter MacNicol. She’s Navi Rawat, for the record, and she’s decent in her role.

Atrios points out this Media Matters piece. He’s right, of course: Reporters have an obligation to disclose potential conflicts of interest of the people they are quoting. Most importantly, it would force the reporter to learn about the conflicts which I suspect would inform their reporting. If they don’t disclose it, after all, do they even know?

There are deceptively simple ideas that become interesting products. Twitter is one of those ideas. Essentially a status message web service, it’s a place where i can leave a quick update of what I’m up to right now. There are SMS, IM, and web-based interfaces plus a bunch of third-party apps that integrate this into the other places you leave status messages. (Think away messages in IM)

After hearing about it a bunch on the different blogs I read, I decided to give it a go. So far, so easy. We’ll see how long I use it, though I suspect that depends on how many of you end up following my feed.

If you want more on the service, this post from David Chartier gives you the positives, and Eric Meyer runs down what he thinks could make the service better.

Take a look, and if you’re interested in giving it a try, drop me a line, add me as a friend, or just leave a comment below.

If you missed this past week’s episode of Scrubs, you really missed the best episode ever. The episode, called My Musical, was a musical episode based on the premise that a patient in the ER keeps hearing everyone around her singing. The episode was amazing. TVSquad has the rundown of the episode, but I basically just wanted to post the following clip on FM:

There are about 9 songs that make up the episode. They were written by the folks behind the musical Avenue Q, and they have the feel of a traditional musical with the big dance numbers and the whole works.

If you want more information on the episode, Heidi mentions that Wikipedia has a page on the episode. Enjoy.

Update: YouTube has removed the clip, so Hulu it is…

Does anyone find it absurd to say, “The homeless are urged to seek shelter?” I just heard that on CNN in reference to the ridiculously cold and windy weather out here in New England.

I don’t think he gets that we don’t actually trust his decisions. It’s precisely the fact that he thinks he’s chosen the best course that makes everyone want Congress to step in.

Rachel McAdams

I’ve seen The Notebook, Wedding Crashers, and The Family Stone and through those films, I’ve become a fan of Rachel McAdams. Now, I’m watching Mean Girls and I’m floored that this is the same Rachel McAdams. She’s a pretty good actress, but it’s hard to believe she’s the evil blonde in Mean Girls. All four characters are pretty different and she’s been believable in all of them.

The speech he gave this morning during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was… wow. I’m curious what the rest of the Senators said. I don’t agree with him on many things, but his speech was refreshing. YouTube has the video:

So, um, what happens to the money he saved by not suing over the apparent voter fraud/election fraud issues in several states? I hope some will go to the eventual Democratic nominee or to the party (if he’s allowed to do that legally). I know I didn’t give money to him for Senate, but for a Democrat to take the White House.
