I’m in the process of doing a huge document review project now (last month of the fiscal year, have to get my hours up…). As part of the document review, I’m reviewing the e-mails of a company employee, and have come across a string of e-mails with someone who appears to be his ex-gf/current mistress. Including one written in code (substituting numbers for letters) asking her not to leave him and to marry him. Despite the fact that he’s apparently married (various e-mails back and forth with the wife-unit). It makes for, um, interesting reading.
So now for the public service announcement — before corresponding with your mistress using your company e-mail account, just remember that the company archives everything you send and receive, and if your company ever gets sued (or sues…), someone like me may be reading your secret code.
