Finally, after way too freaking long, Buraka Som Sistema has released their latest album, Black Diamond. The song above, Sound of Kuduro is by far the best on the album, but there are some other nice gems on here. MIA is featured on several tracks, and the rhythm is just addicting. I cannot sit still when this is on.
Click on the image to download the album (as DRM free MP3s) from Amazon.

give me a few months and I’m there. Is the OS X version out yet?
July 4th, 2006 at 10:32 pm
Yeah, the OSX version shipped last week. Requires some decent hardware (http://www.aspyr.com/games.php/mac/civ4/) Intel/G5, 512MB RAM, recommends 64MB VRAM with good 3d graphics card. Said to be good on the MacBook’s integrated graphics.

damn. Guess I won’t be getting it.. only G4’s in this household.

What’s your top machine? I wonder if you’ve got enough graphics card whether you’ll have a fighting chance.

I’ve already told Bram I want it as a birthday gift. BTW - I am typing on my brand new Mac Book!
PS - My dad is playing on a MacBook already and says it is good but for some inexplicable reason, the sound doesn’ work.

Tam-
Which MacBook did you end up getting? As my friends asked last night: should I get the one that overheats, the one that discolors, or the one that moos?

I got the white one with the slightly faster chip (2.0 I think). The black one looks cool, but I couldn’t justify the extra expense. So far no problems, though I’ve only had it since Monday. I really don’t think it gets any hotter than my 12″ PowerBook did. The screen is fantastic. And don’t forget - if you use the educational discount, you get a free Nano (after rebate).

I figured the heat issues were a bunch of hooey anyway. I’ll probably end up with the one you’ve got…though I’m thinking of going cheap and skipping the DVD-RW (getting the entry level and saving some loot)

Bram convinced me I needed the DVD-RW drive since now we have a lot more pictures and things we may want to put on DVD, so I got it. I also sprung for the 80 Gig HD and 1 Gig of RAM. Now I just need some rims….

They spinnin, they spinnin!
When we’re all geared up, we can play over the internet using Hamachi. It creates a mini-VPN where we can play a LAN game. Should even work cross-platform…until my Mac appears.
