One of those mocking, derisive but ultimately silly attacks made by both Giuliani and Palin yesterday had to do with mocking Obama’s time as a community organizers. I’ve read many different posts today defending the work community organizers do but Obama, as you might expect, puts the right perspective on the issue. Steve Benen has more background.

Hello from Seattle! I’m staying at the Hotel Monaco in Seattle. I was impressed to see a really nice LG flat screen TV (32LX3DC) sitting on the cabinet. The frustrating thing is that there are no HD channels at all. The TV defaults to 16×9 with regular cable coming in. So, every channel is stretched out and fuzzy. How silly is that?
And, of course, NFL Live just started on ESPN with the “Available on ESPNHD” message. It’s just taunting me now…

it is really nice, I have to admit. The little touches (aside from the HD thing) are impressive. It’s in W range for me, which is among my favorites.

I’m becoming a hotel snob. I’m quickly reaching the point where I always try to stay in a Kimpton Group hotel, a W, or a Westin. Sofitel and Metropolitan hotels are ok as well. I had to stay in a Hilton in Chicago last week, and *hated* it.
One nice thing is that the Kimpton Group will keep track of how often you stay with them and will give you automatic upgrades, late check outs, and a bottle of wine on subsequent stays.
