Can someone explain to this poor Motor City transplant what on earth an octopus has to do with the Red Wings. Why do fans throw them on the ice? It makes no sense. We are not the Detroit Octopi!

Just last year, I was getting dressed for a game at Chelsea Piers when I heard a shocked yell. A guy came charging out of the office with a hockey stick, stopped, and fired a mouse across the room.
