Thank heavens for baseball. I love the sport and am glad it is back.
It has to be understood that I don’t “follow” baseball. I just like watching games. Any game, any time. Although I do pay special attention to the watching Red Sox games. I was glad to see that the Tigers actually won today. Magic number is now 151. But, since my source for free tickets has dried up, I don’t care quite as much about Tigers. Anyway, I digress. I just like watching a good baseball game and I often don’t care who wins and what the stats are. But, like I said, I do pay a bit more attention to the BoSox.
The thing is, I was watching ESPN and I heard a lot of familiar names…Red Sox names. And they weren’t talking in the context of the BoSox. I know that “he who is now dead to me” went to the Yankees, but it seems that quite a few other people seem to have left too.
WHO IS STILL A RED SOX? I see that Tim Wakefield still is…but Mirabelli isn’t, so I guess he won’t pitch much. “D-Lowe” is gone and I’ll miss him. Now there is JT Snow? Coco Crisp? Mike Lowell? Josh Bard? Mark Loretta? Who are these people (ok, I know who they are…they just aren’t Red Sox…well they are, but they aren’t the right Red Sox). WHERE ARE MY RED SOX? I want MY Red Sox.
Hopefully Manny and Papi will still be there when the BoSox pass this way.
I’m also glad that the BoSox won and that Schilling pitched well.

Is it bad that I chortled when he who shall not be named struck out in his first at bat as a Yankee?

Yes but “he who is dead to you” was part of a team that lit up….the so called best team in baseball by the pundits… by a score of 15-2!!
And although you won’t name him by name…
Nice debut: 3 for 7, 1 rbi, 2 r…and two of those hits were doubles…
Can’t wait for the first Evil Empire v Bosox showdown…
