I’m watching a documentary on the history channel about the World Trade Center talking mostly about the details of the structural collapse of the two towers. It’s been informative and interesting, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that part of me is just transfixed, feeling the emotions wash over me as I watch airplanes plowing into the building or watching the towers collapse.

I also can’t help watching this and wondering why it is we’re in Iraq… why it is that we still haven’t captured bin Laden… It’s so frustrating to think about how little we’ve done to change the pre-9/11 systemic status quo. What I mean is that we’ve done little to actually alter the systemic roots of terrorism. Instead, we’ve put a band-aid on Afghanistan and then invaded one of the few secular countries in the Middle East. Yes, he was brutal and a despot, but you might be able to say that about Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or a number of other regional powers. Iran actually has a weapons program. Which we knew about back then.

So damn frustrating…
