Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

If you have COMCAST digital Cable, I just saw in their Events and Specials section on ONDemand… look in your menu… they are letting people buy three episodes at a time for $2.99 per three episode segment….
looks like a VCR/ DVD recorder alert*****
They have episodes 1-15 listed…. just thought I would pass along the information for those who might be interested in watching… watching again…. the series…
