Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I’ll just cross another store off my list of places I can shop. Next, its basically only going to be Dick’s sporting goods and all comic book stores.

Luckily it’s just too much trouble to get to Target up here. At least Costco is still a farily good company, although shopping there is painful sometimes…

You say that as if you’ve been begging to boycott them previously. I heard Best Buy does ritual murder of small children and animals in their employee breakrooms. Guess we’ll have to boycott them, too. Oh — and Apple, they’ve been intentionally been poisoning their employees and not giving them sick time off, so we’ll have to boycott them too.
