Alright, people, focus! I’m looking for everyone’s favorite live music song and artist.
I’ll start:
Angry Young Man by Billy Joel (although Miami 2017 comes in a close second).
Go!
Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I’ve only been to 2 concerts in my life, one was Lillith Fair (chaperone) and then I think I saw They Might Be Giants twice… and out of those, I have to say that Instanbul is my favorite.
Probably not the right one to answer your question…

Interesting response, Sujal — I thought Josh meant any live version… in which case I would have thought you’d pick Eddie Vedder’s version of “I am a Patriot”.
My fav’s might be:
Peral Jam doing Porch on a live CD I have — a bootleg. Seeing them live is pretty great.
Seeing REM live is pretty great, too.
It’s been so long since I’ve been to a concert… so sad….

Sujal, didn’t you come to Son Volt? Or was that Shreya that got dragged along? Clearly I didn’t do a very good job of subjecting you to concerts… As for favorite live version, hmmm. So many to pick from. A few favs: Peter Gabriel, Michael Stipe and Natalie Merchant singing “Red Rain.” Ani DiFranco doing just about anything. (c: Tori Amos’ “Cooling.” Howie Day’s cover of “Africa.”Orbital’s live version of “Halcyon + On and On” (Sujal, by any chance do you have that on CD? I can’t find it anywhere…).
Never said I was good with directions.

I have the version of Halcyon with the Bon Jovi/Belinda Carlisle bit (I guess the modern word might be mashup?). I think I also have the original.

I am hoping to see Nouvelle Vague in september. I have to say my fav performace was Lhassa live (sort of like Lila Downs). There is this one song she sings but I can’t remember the name right now, from her album The Living Road…

Okay, but I feel like we might be getting a bit off topic. I’m kinda looking for songs here. Come on! I know we have ideas here!

Pearl Jam doing I Am A Patriot or Elderly Woman Behind A Counter in a Small Town
Halcyon, by Orbital from the In Sides bonus CD were three. I have to think about this some more…

BNL does a pretty good show. when they did the (free) Mixfest shows in Boston, the hole thing was good. However, He Live versions of 1000000 Dollars and The old Apartment were particularly good.
I won’t even reveal the artists at the other concerts I’ve been to, for fear of terminal ridicule.

Silly as it may sound, I liked Nirvana’s unplugged CD
