Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller) just had a child. Click the link to see the name. It is too horrific for me to type. Even worse - I read the article to Bram and he thought the name was “awesome.” He is now banned from further discussions on naming on our child.

And wait until Moxie gets into middle school. Fun Times will be had by all.

what are the odds that this child has her name legally changed (either for her by mom or on her own after she’s old enough)? Anyone want to take an over/under on this? Over or under 25?
