I finally saw Star Trek: Nemesis last night. It was OK.

Star Trek - Nemesis (Widescreen Edition)

The ending was pretty stunning, though, as they killed off a major character from the Next Generation crew. I was definitely stunned by that because it was a brave piece of writing. I wonder if any cast issues were behind the move, though, as I think the actor that played that character was one of the two very good actors on the show. It was surprising, to say the least.

Beyond that, it was like watching a long episode and was about on par with the previous Star Trek movies. The only thing that really bugged me was the total break from the previous ST:NG movies. What happened to the fancy weapons they had on the new Enterprise in the last movie? They were back to the normal photon torpedos and phasers. No anti-matter spreads and no quantum torpedos… (yes, I’m a Star Trek geek…)

Story was so-so, as usual. Not as funny, either. Bottom line: if you like Star Trek, you’ll enjoy this more than the last few. It’s a little less believable than normal, but nothing that you wouldn’t expect for Star Trek.
