We’re on our last day of vacation here in the great southwest. One more day to shop, gamble, and take a gondola ride and then we’re off to the airport. We’ve had an eventful final week. We saw a Nobel Laureate poet, Derek Walcott, read and speak in Springdale, Utah on Saturday, we won some money in Vegas, and tonight we saw the incredible Blue Man Group show. Heidi and I are planning to write more in a few days about all of this, but suffice to say we’ve had a great finish to a great vacation.
Tomorrow is going to be hectic. We’ve got a couple of items to take care of, including returning the rental car with a long scratch down one side (looks like we got keyed or scraped by someone in the parking lot at the Grand Canyon). Thank goodness for good car insurance and MasterCard’s MasterRental program. Paperwork sucks. Then it’s the red eye.
Heidi still has a few days off to get her grading done, but I’m going into work on Thursday after the flights. Nothing like getting thrown back into work mode in the most jarring way possible.
I’m actually looking forward to it, in part because it’s just a two day week and baseball season starts very, very, very soon. My fantasy draft is this weekend (no money, thankfully) and hopefully I’ll get some time to get the photos sorted out and up.
We’ll try to get the complete trip post up this weekend as well. See ya on Thursday.
PS. If there EVER was a show that was made for the techies, it’s the Blue Man Group show. Every special effect (except pyro, oddly enough) that you’ve ever used and wanted to use are all part of this show, from smoke to strobes to scrims to lasers to moving stage components to fancy lighting… It’s an absolutely fun show to watch but I’m thinking this show is an awesome show to work on, as well.
