I’m thinking about switching from Safari to Firefox as my default browser on the mac. Any thoughts or opinions? I’m primarily thinking about it because the browser has more fancy features, is extensible and has some GREAT hacks and addons and is pretty nice in general. The main problems I have right now are limited to the fact that it doesn’t spell check text in forms (like, say, wordpress’s post tool
). Would be nice to have that feature, though I’m guessing their might be an extension for it.
Interested in any experiences or gotchas that I might want to think about.

I almost exclusively use Firefox for anything of value now and love it. I just wish they had a bookmarks import tool. Once that’s done, I’ll be completely moved.
Go for it

they do. Sort of. Google for Safari Bookmark Exporter. It says Firefox 0.9 but it works just fine for 1.0.1. I used it at home and here and it’s fine. The biggest issue I have right now is the weird disconnect in the fonts… slashdot, for example, looks very different to my eyes in FF vs. Safari.

I found that but it was a pain to install… and it bites that it doesn’t check as you type. I understand why, but that’s too bad.
