So, I’m finally watching this past Wednesday’s Law and Order. I’ve commented recently about the hard “Bush conservative” shift in the writing. This episode, titled Obsession, isn’t really based on issues so doesn’t quite fit this pattern. Instead, it’s modeled on the Bill O’Reilly sexual harrassment suit embellished so that the O’Reilly character (named Shea in the episode… subtle) gets killed. Suspects investigated include a Michael Moore knockoff and included the memorable line from the Benz driving police officer, “Tadzhikistan, Afghanistan, I don’t care where it comes from as long as it ends up in my Benz” (best I can remember it).
The suspect as of right now (28 minutes in) is a crazed, obsessive lesbian woman who is into straight women. Ah, those evil gay people and their attempt to recruit women into their movement. This show is starting to suck badly.
Tonight’s L&O: Criminal Intent episode, on the other hand, did touch on Abu Ghraib and criticized the Patriot Act. Fair and balanced?

I have to say the “original” law and order really is not rocking my world anymore either. I found that episode annoying, and realised that i used to be obsessed with listening to every part, and now I just sort of have in the background while i do sunday evening house cleaning. Sort of sad, since it really used to be my favorite show.
