Thoughts on the state of the union speech? Pretty much as I expected, lots of things that sound like good ideas that don’t seem to be.
I’m becoming convinced that the whole Social Security debate is contrived. There’s something to deal with here, but not the way that the Bush administration is pushing this. I’m also curious what programs are on the chopping block that will reduce the deficit enough to get it on track for cutting it by 50% by 2009.
Speaking of which, isn’t it a pretty low expectation to balance the budget by 2009?

I watched it, and at the end I was saying…”Yeah, and?” But then, luckily the Democrats came in and made me say “Aaah, so you have no idea either? Now I see…”
It does make me wonder why we bother broadcasting them anymore.
I really don’t understand why the democrats don’t just bother going on TV every day, even if they have nothing new to say and keep repeating the same stats: “We had billions of dollars in surplus under a Democratic president and now we have a 3 Trillion dollar deficit.”
