So, here’s a question: Why, if Allan Houston retires, does his salary (which would then be paid by insurance and not the Knicks) not come off the Salary Cap as well?
Anyone have any thoughts on this one?
Finally, after way too freaking long, Buraka Som Sistema has released their latest album, Black Diamond. The song above, Sound of Kuduro is by far the best on the album, but there are some other nice gems on here. MIA is featured on several tracks, and the rhythm is just addicting. I cannot sit still when this is on.

i asked an nba guru here at espn about this a couple years back when hakeem olajuwon “retired” from the raptors by taking him $5mil+ per year for three years and chillin.
seems that the NBAPA is against this because they feel that teams would put pressure on aging, overpaid players to retire so that their salaries would come off the cap.
it’s extremely frustrating to see as a fan. i’m slowly coming around to the idea that the NBA, NHL, and MLB should not have guaranteed contracts a la the NFL.
seeing guys like vince carter and tracy mcgrady say they dogged it on nights only reinforces the perception of the overpaid, underworking athlete and can’t be engendering loyalty to the NBA amongst fans.
