This story is disappointing if true. The ACLU has been using data mining techniques on their donor database that would apparently violate their (now old) privacy policy. I haven’t read too much about this yet, but this bugs me. The organization whose charter is to defend civil rights in the public space is doing things that are inconsistent with that charter in the private space. Problem is that most people who don’t want the government snooping into their private lives at least feel similarly about corporations and private organizations. Boo, ACLU.

I’m almost happy that I haven’t renewed my membership this year. (Honestly, though, I will before the year is up, most likely… depends on what else I find out about this story)
