Testing Flickr’s photo to blog feature. Did it work?
This clip has been making the rounds on the Internet, so odds are you’ve seen it. If you haven’t, you should watch it, preferably in HD at Vimeo. At the very least, click the title of this post to see it full size.
The premise is simple: Matthew Harding took a trip to 42 countries to film short clips of him doing a silly dance, sometimes alone, sometimes with lots of local folks, often in beautiful locations. The result is this 4:28 video.
I’m proud to share the fact that this guy is from Connecticut. They don’t call us nutmeggers for nothing.
Update: The song is (called Praan) is available at Amazon’s MP3 store. The web site for the project is, appropriately, wherethehellismatt.com, where there are more videos and maps.

Who what where when?? Is this in Conn? I see Sujal has stolen my one arm picture taking technique…

Yep… Flickr Rocks! Go to the profile section and set up an alias so you’ll be flick.com/people/sujal instead of n003kv93434j.

Yeah, I’m planning on doing that. Are you paying or just using the free services?

Paying… I believe it’s only 10 (?) photos a month on the free account. $3.50 per month is worth it to me to be able to upload 1GB of photos per month (not like I’ll ever hit that), and to have all sorts of neat hooks to be able to get at the pics–there’s MT and Blogger integration, and an interesting API on top of that.

I think it’s 10 Megs a month which, if you resize BEFORE you upload (like I do in iPhoto), then you can get a good number of pics up with no problem. The bigger deal breaker for me is the 100 picture limit in the photostream. I want something relatively permanent. What I might do, though, is play with this until I get bored paying $50 a year and then will write something “good enough” for me. My current photo gallery app was something I wrote in 1 night and it kinda shows it.
So, I’m now a flickr pro account owner… woohoo!

Build It, And They Will Come
A good online experience is a good brand experience. An acquaintance said this to me during a conversation about the advantages of investing in user experience versus investing in marketing. We had touched on a column by Mark Hurst, who…
