So, watching TV this morning, I feel as if I have been neglect in giving people something to run up and down my sides on for the last few months or so. Now that the new Television season has officially begun, I feel as if it is time for me to officially release my “this is definitely the show that will replace Dawson’s Creek for my faux teeny-bopper existence” show:

The OC.

Now, I know that all of you who have ever watched it would agree that there are far too many similarities to discount, but I feel compelled to mention just a few of them. Perhaps to highlight the greatness. Perhaps to entice a few of you who have never enjoyed its brilliance.

1.) Good looking, high maintenance women — Now, this is a key component that can never be highlighted often enough. Back from its earliest days, I knew that Dawson’s had the most high maintenance women harkening back to the days when everyone was watching to see when Joey Potter and Jen Lindley would take this to new heights. We could even go back further to 90210, and talk about Brenda and Kelly…

2.) Nerdy, Everyman Sort-of Guys — First of all, one of the main characters is a comic book fan! But now, to add insult to injury, he’s started his own high school comic book afficianado’s club where they will discuss the ISSUES! I love it!

3.) The language — Alright, now I know for a fact my sister’s SAT scores went up the more she watched Dawson’s, but this show is just over the top. I swear the writers read the dictionary just to find new words for them to use. And come on, “Christ-mukkah”?

4.) Have I mentioned the women yet?

5.) The Supportive Parents — Now, we all know that “The Walsh’s” and “The Leary’s” are models for modern day parenting (none of this 7th Heaven crap), but I think we need to put the “Cohen’s” up there as well. I mean, come on now! They took in a (diamond in the rough) kid from Chino, adopted him, and now its like he has always been one of the family! Also, we have the criminal family (Joey’s dad = Marisa’s dad? Maybe…). We also have the obligatory “Step-monster” comment from Summer.

Now, I know, many of you will say, “but Josh, Sports Guy already talked about this” and you’d be right. I’m simply pointing out that while I might have come a little late to the party, I think its time we all celebrated that I showed up at all.

Those are just a few comments, now let the mocking begin….
