Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

it says a lot about why he didn’t challenge Bush head on more often… A bunch of commentators point out that the next leader should have a “safe” seat… I vote for Dodd, cause a Senate leader from your home state is always a nice thing. I’ll be updating my tax dollar map and posting it soon, too… let’s see how much the swings are in the next 4 years.
