“John has worked to strengthen our military, reform public education, boost the economy and protect the environment.” A little different from his RNC speech, eh?
This comes from Bram…
Love the bass line, and really love that the gunshots were taken out of the track. Really never liked the gunshots in the album version anyway.

Once again,… ZELL MILLER was asked at the RNC about this statement and he said… I was given notes to read by the Kerry people, so I read them… it happens all the time. Doesn’t make it right but it happens.

yup, right… and his RNC speech was entirely his thoughts on Bush, Kerry, and his former party. I’m not really sure about your point? are you defending his RNC speech as somehow honest or heartfelt? Or just agreeing that Miller is full of it?

I am just saying that he made refernce to his previous comments that were addressed. I also state it happens all the time… do I think he wrote his RNC speech, don’t know? was it his intent? don’t know, but he had a lot of fire and ire for a man who was just reading something handed to him…
was I defending it as honest and heartfelt? No. I was just referncing the point that he answered the question that was posed.
For all the complaints about fair and balanced that I see in a lot of the posts… I am just putting up information that he did address the previous comments… I did not defend nor speak on his behalf… but if I had said a similiar thing about John Kerry or John Edwards … 9000 comments with 9000 links would have been provided for my benefit… so I was just answering the question about whether or not it was different from his RNC speech…. nothing more, nothing less… then stating that although they make these speeches all the time without ever seeing the content beforehand… is it right? No. But it happens. Kind of like all of the other refernces to candidates who supposedly made statements without knowing about them beforehand… I think Koch referenced one for you in an earlier post… I was just making a point that it happens.

first, no one here complains about “fair and balanced” anythings around here… I generally focus on accuracy and truthfullness, not “balance.” You’re the one who brings up “fairness” and “balance” which seem to be defined as airing some sort of opposing comment whether it’s true or not.
Second, who the hell reads speeches given to them without reading them first? Sounds like it would be a convenient explanation for Zell, but you don’t provide any reporting that says the same thing… The closest I’ve found is Sen. Miller saying that the Kerry folks gave him a bio sketch here in this CNN interview directly after the speech:
http://cnnstudentnews.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0409/01/se.03.html
So, he’s claiming he’s not responsible for what he said then… why should we believe him now, especially when his speech regurgitates the same misleading, false talking points that the Republicans are handing out? Read the rest of that transcript… he couldn’t answer a single question about the accuracy of many of his claims.

I didn’t defend his speech… caught the last five minutes of it. Just stating what he said on CSPAN when asked about his previous statements.

Because it never happens?
It went on: “Mr. Levine told The Sun yesterday that Mr. Kerry instantly regretted making those comments. ‘The truth on the envoy issue is that his staff got out ahead of him and released a statement he had not seen; when he saw it he was extremely upset about it and it did not reflect his views. Rather than withdraw at that moment, he allowed it to stay in the speech. He regretted it before he said it, but made the decision that taking it out of the speech at that time would call more attention than leaving it in. He has subsequently made abundantly and repeatedly clear he would not appoint an envoy that does not have the trust of both sides.’”

Doug, basic reading comprehension skills, yeesh. Your excerpt clearly says that he didn’t read the release but knew it was in the speech, which he consciously left in for consistency with the release. Leaving it in implies he knew it was there, ergo he read his prepared speech.
(this actually makes sense, because the text of speeches are generally handed out ahead of time, and removing a section is pretty obvious)

Thank you for clearing up your comprehension skills… My statement above says Zell Miller was given notes by the Kerry people to read… it doesn’t mean he didn’t read them. Doesn’t mean he did. You know how many people are given an introduction for a person at a banquet, etc and they read them? Often.
My previous post states:
“I was given notes to read by the Kerry people, so I read them… it happens all the time”
he read them. They were prepared notes by the Kerry people. He read them. Did he read them beforehand….don’t know… don’t really care.

What it just goes to show is that Miller is a jelly fish who will read/say whatever he is told to without really caring if it is true or not.
His strings are pulled by whatever party he thinks has the best chance of getting him elected. I’m suprised we don’t see him walking around with a hand up his ass.

If my flip flops have donkeys on them, can I paint over them with elephants and complain about Miller now?
