This provides a good history of Jews in America. In addition to the events mentioned, there are entire organizations just dedicated to events and coordination of efforts between the major pilar organizations (United Jewish Communities, Federations, Movements, etc.). My company (screwed up though it is) is actually planning a number of events, inserts for our publications, special sections on our websites, etc. for the next year.
Here are a few links for some organizations that you can look at if you’re interested:
92nd Street Y (in NY obviously)
The Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater NY
MyJewishLearning.com This is actually a great one to go to if you’re just curious about Jews, Jewish History, the religion, etc.

now see, the scary thing about having this post right next to my previous post is that someone is going to search for Jewish and Lies in google and find the month index for September or some other path. (i have reports of what the most common search terms are that lead people to FM and sometimes it’s disturbing).
I wish we could take names and taunt them for being bigots.
