And before you laugh me off your screen, you really, really need to watch some Olympic badminton just to be impressed. Hell, even King Kaufman digs the shuttlecock:
MSNBC Thursday morning: Mixed-doubles badminton gold-medal match. The favored Chinese win the first of three games 15-1, but Great Britain wins the second 15-12. The deciding game is a seesaw affair.Screaming crowd, with fans of both teams going crazy. China pulls out a 15-12 win. As exciting a sporting event as you’d ever want to see.
Badminton. The Olympics are just crazy beautiful sometimes
It’s ridiculously fast-paced. Between this and table tennis, I think I’ve gained a whole new level of respect for these “recreational” sports.

I didn’t see badminton, but I saw women’s trampoline yesterday on CBC. It’s much more hardcore than I thought. In gymnastics, if you fall off your beam, bar, etc, you can get back on and finish the routine. Not so in trampoline. If you hit the side, it’s over and you get your score based only on what you finished. It was very exciting when the Sydney gold medalist hit the side on her 3rd skill (you have to do 10) and got the lowest score. The only American woman hit the side on her 8th skill and didn’t go on to the finals. The Canadian did win a silver and they were all very excited because, well, Canada doesn’t win a lot of medals.

How about Air Hockey as an Olympic Event?
