Newsweek’s Daniel Gross explains the Consumer Price Index (here’s the official BLS site) in a very simple video. I could do without the goofy sound effects, but it’s a good, 2 minute explanation of how the government tracks inflation.
Per David Simon’s Berkeley talk, though, the video doesn’t go into why this matters. Perhaps they’ll cover that in the next installment of the Economics 101 series.

I am! Mainly soccer. Yesterday I balanced my checkbook while watching Ghana-Paraguay on Telemundo. Perfection. I don’t speak Spanish, so I only looked up when the announcers got excited.
Oh, and I watched some fencing, too. And a few minutes of ping pong and badminton.

I’ve been watching some of it. Bram and I both prefer the CBC coverage instead of the NBC coverage. Lower sap story to actual sport ratio, and they show events Americans are not favored in.

Acutally I have watched some, which is suprising since I have not for quite a few years now. I do remember watching them a lot as a kid.
